Wed, Jan 25, 2017 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The Bay State Brawlers (BSB), Central Massachusetts’ premier nonprofit women’s flat-track roller derby league, has announced the date for its New Skater Class, where skaters of all shapes, sizes, ages, and backgrounds are encouraged to hit the track and give it their best. An eight-week commitment, BSB asserts that because the sport is affordable and, perhaps more importantly, fun, it’s an easy way to sneak achievable exercise into your New Year’s resolutions.

From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 8th, 2017, at Roll On America, 90 Duval Road, the league will be hosting its first New Skater Class of 2017, which includes an introduction to roller derby and your chance strap on skates and pads.

Though helpful, no prior skating experience is necessary. Anyone wishing to attend should email

This is an 8-week program designed to bring skaters up to a level where they are ready for scrimmaging. Currently recruiting skaters, referees, and non-skating officials (NSOs).

There are only 25 spots in this class and we book first come first serve, so space is limited.
Practices run twice a week on Wednesdays from 8-10 PM and Sundays from 5:30-7:30 PM, at Roll On America, 90 Duval Rd, Lancaster, MA

Your gear (we have limited gear available to loan) which includes a helmet, mouth guard, elbow pads, knee pads, wrist guards and of course, skates!

A copy of your license or state ID
All of the gear you need can be purchased locally from the Bruised Boutique.

Non-Skating Officials and Volunteers
If skating or reffing is not for you, you’re concerned about a time commitment, or you’re just thinking of get involved in another way, WE STILL NEED YOU. Consider about becoming a non-skating official. NSOs are the backbone of every single bout, making sure jams run the proper length, that naughty skaters serve the proper amount of time in the penalty box, tracking lineups and penalties, and so on.
